Jio Studios continues its triumphant run in Bollywood, securing an impressive 24 nominations at the historic Silver Jubilee edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) 2025. With its slate of blockbuster releases, including Stree 2, Laapataa Ladies, Shaitaan, Article 370, and Singham Again, the studio has cemented its position as a powerhouse in the industry.
Laapataa Ladies: A cinematic triumph The Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao-backed Laapataa Ladies emerged as a strong contender, bagging eight nominations. The heartwarming drama received nods for Best Film and Best Director (Kiran Rao). Sparsh Shrivastava and Nitanshi Goel were nominated for Best Performance in a Leading Role (Male and Female), while Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan earned recognition in the supporting categories. Music by Ram Sampath also found a place in the spotlight, with Arijit Singh (O Sajni) and Shreya Ghoshal (Dheeme Dheeme) contending for Best Playback Singer awards.
Stree 2: The horror comedy continues to shine The much-anticipated sequel Stree 2 received six major nominations. The film, produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande, is competing for Best Film, while director Amar Kaushik vies for Best Director. Shraddha Kapoor’s stellar performance earned her a nomination for Best Leading Role (Female), and Abhishek Banerjee received a nod for Best Supporting Role (Male). The film’s music duo, Sachin-Jigar, is nominated for Best Music Director, while Madhubanti Baghchi’s haunting track Aaj Ki Raat earned her a Best Playback Singer (Female) nomination.
Shaitaan: A thriller to remember The supernatural thriller Shaitaan, featuring an intense performance by R Madhavan, received three nominations, including Best Film. Madhavan’s chilling portrayal earned him a nod for Best Performance in a Negative Role, while Janki Bodiwala was recognized for Best Supporting Role (Female).
Article 370: A political drama with impact The Yami Gautam-starrer Article 370 secured five nominations, including Best Film and Best Director (Aditya Suhas Jambhale). Gautam’s powerful performance earned her a Best Leading Role (Female) nomination, while Priyamani received a nod for Best Supporting Role (Female). Jubin Nautiyal’s soul-stirring song Dua is in the race for Best Playback Singer (Male).
Singham Again: action and antagonists Rohit Shetty’s much-hyped action spectacle Singham Again earned a single but significant nomination, with Arjun Kapoor vying for Best Performance in a Negative Role.
With such a formidable presence at IIFA 2025, Jio Studios is all set to dominate the awards night, proving once again its unmatched storytelling prowess in Indian cinema.
